One of my Thursday morning knitters had a yarn that looked beautiful in the skein but she couldn’t figure out how to knit it so it looked nice.
we tried a few different things and then I suggested we embrace the variegation and she knit squares of different stitches and we’d sew it up. She normally knits in the border as she goes. After kindly seaming it, I was asked if I could crochet a border and of course I said yes!
The first round was a challenge to figure out so that it’d be mostly flat, all the different stitches created massive fabric lay variations. The next two went quicker even though it’s just a simple single crochet the whole way around. I have a few ends to weave in but I think it’s stunning. The photo is while I was working the first round.

I have a bunch of crochet squares I’m going to join up for another blanket. I’m looking forward to this one because it’s different from what I’ve been seaming. I have another one that I’m actually going to use as a tutorial, but I’m still waiting on the new phone mount so I can easily get overhead shots.
I finally pulled out my crochet blanket. In my head it’s much further along. Didn’t the little magic creatures in my studio work on it for me? What possessed me to work single crochet?
