shift.01

Shift cowl in blue/purple; green/rose, and golds shown on a black covered mannequin/dressform.

Surprised by the yarn choices I’ve made and curious if they work for this project or if they should be a fade instead of a shift. There's an easy way to test if there's high enough contrast and I've just not bothered. I like how it looks knitted so far, so that's good enough. I wish the pattern was laid out in a more user friendly manner (orphaned rows in columns without a heading repeats mean flipping back and forth) however that doesn't matter much. It’s interesting, now that I have the rhythm down it's easy to read, and most importantly I am having fun.

ok only just over 100 stitches worth. It’s a bit tedious but a dpn makes it go faster. I’m surprised how much I’m loving this combination of colors.

popcorn knitting

I’m on section 7 and am ignoring basically everything else because I want to see what happens next. I even bought spin cycle to knit another one. It’s a great design, easy to knit. The pattern style and layout isn’t my favorite but I get why it’s a popular pattern!

1 to 2 in groups of five

honestly I never thought I’d knit a shift cowl. Last week there was something about slipped stitches that grabbed my brain. I don’t have full bandwidth at the moment for the deep swatching required for what I’m thinking about so I debated between two patterns and this one was purchased. It’s a popcorn type project. Now that I have the basics of the rhythm I don’t have to read the pattern closely. I’m in section 3.
There’s layout and instructions I’d have written differently and it’s a good reminder as I get back into designing again.
