Sandstone Striations Cardi

I fell in love with Iris' sample as she was packing for h+h americas.. I hadn't thought through knitting Silk Mohair in the summer so this languished until February 2024 when I picked it back up.

But will I wear it?

I love *nearly *everything about this cardigan.

The simple construction that makes it a good project for TV or car knitting.

The Artyarns Silk Mohair Ombre 2 ply is delightful. Well, as long as I stay away from the circular needle I was using for some of it. Once I switched I confirmed that for knitting (as for crochet) -- not splitty or prone to dropped stitches.

I changed the pattern and opted for a narrower collar, working only 4 rows longer than the cuff. Why? Honestly I was bored but I also didn't want a big collar. I wish I'd bound off even looser than I had (perhaps JSSBO) and I'm honestly contemplating picking it out and redoing it. I wish I'd thought about the sleeve circumference -- they're quite loose and I prefer tighter sleeves.

However, the bigger question is the colours. I detest with passion red. But most of the world loves when I wear it. I'm trying to convince myself that these are the colours of the golden hour before sunset. We'll see.

dropped and held.

Last night I discovered I was dropping and splitting lots of stitches so I switched needles. Between that and being more attentive I think I’ve fixed that issue. I wish all my problems and frustrations were solved in such a straightforward manner this week.

I’m thankful the double silk mohair is so sticky and I didn’t loose more. I’ll need to finesse some tension in the fixed stitches but for now I’m carrying on.

Tonight I put the front on a stitch holder, bound off the neck, and knit to the end. I believe the end is in sight! Only five more inches to finish the back. It’s on a mere 92 sts so I hope it will go quickly.

I’m still having doubts if I’ll wear this colorful color block cardigan. Time will tell!

superb owl progress

Last night's over time helped to make decent progress on the body of the cardi and coffee this morning pushed me just past halfway. Working over 150 stitches in flat stockinette, well it's a good thing I love purling. It looks that most of this side will be purple, I hope the collar will too. I would love to be knitting it during the day today but there are other projects I need to work on (the kind that pay the bills). I'm beginning to be nervous if after all this work (and time since I began knitting last june) if I'll actually wear it or if this is simply a process project.

it's not knitting itself

I've been meaning to finish this cardi and don't really have a good excuse why I've not been working on it. Yesterday I finally started working on it again. At some point last year I'd cast on for the second sleeve, put it in the project bag, and set it aside.

Today at coffee a friend commented "wow that's bright".

It's not normal Penny colours is it?

I'm curious to see if I'll actually wear it or if I'll be finding someone else who loves it. Iris creates such beautiful colours I want to work with them all.

As of this morning I am about 15 cm (5.9 in) into the second sleeve.
