a summer tee
I wasn’t going to start a new project until I finished a few, but a student is planning to knit this tee (Mia Summer Tee by Cheryl Mokhtari) and I decided to make it as well so I knew where she might run into challenges and because I wouldn’t mind a short sleeve knit tee. I’m making mine out of quince & co Chickadee, in Bird’s Egg.
I’ll confess two things:
One: I started knitting fully prepared to either rip out or to knit a different size due to my gauge, I didn’t swatch. I like the fabric and that’s good enough.
Two: because I didn’t read through all the words of the pattern or look at the pictures, I cast on incorrectly the first time and had to redo with a proper tubular cast on after longer than I care to admit while continuing to knit and saying “hmm”. I’ll use the excuse it was car knitting and I just zoomed on because I don’t like casting on in the car and my current sock needs to be looked at before I continue on.
The design elements are beautiful and I believe this is a knit I’ll wear a lot.
I’m holding the chickadee single and no extra carry yarns. I’d thought about knitting in Artyarns Silk Day Dream, but decided that a wool tee made more sense for me.
